Tanzanite Buying Guide
Fall in Love with Exclusive Beauty
Amodoria Gems gives you the freedom to choose with your heart as much as with your mind.
Like a stunning piece of jewellery, the perfect gem is an affair of the heart. It captivates its audience with charm and charisma, speaking volumes without the need for words. But, at Amodoria, we believe that a beautiful gem must also be a sound investment. That is why each and every one of our gemstones undergoes a critical selection process based on established gemological criteria. Our stones are graded by experts in the fields of geology and gemology at every step, from their initial discovery to their placement in our collection.
When you gaze into its heart, your soul should dissolve in its deep blue depths.
Hue, saturation and tone all determine the final quality of the cut gem. Tanzanite, however, is unlike other gemstones. Due to its orthorhombic crystalline structure it is trichroic, making it unique in the world of gems. This additional feature means that when viewed from its three different crystallographic directions Tanzanite can exhibit three different colours. As a result Tanzanite’s colours range from blue to bluish purple to bluish violet, providing a spectacular colour range to choose from. Only the brightest and most intense of raw Tanzanite can become gems in our collection.
The magic of light dances effortlessly within its blue spirit.
A gem’s luminescence comes from its clarity. Its imperfections and inclusions impact its brilliance and sparkle. Our Tanzanite stones are hand-picked to be brilliantly transparent so that once they are expertly cut and set, they allow light to enhance the majestic blue elegance and uniqueness of any jewellery design.
In enchanting simplicity lies the mastery of complexity.
Tanzanite’s remarkable feature of trichroism, makes Tanzanite an unmatched beauty amongst gemstones. It also makes cutting more complex, because the colour of the final stone is determined by how its table intersects with its internal crystallographic orientation. As a result, the skill and art of Tanzanite cutting is a coveted talent. At Amodoria we chose our master cutters from the most experienced and knowledgeable craftsmen. For this reason our cutting is done exclusively in the Czech Republic, where the tradition of gemstone and crystal cutting goes back centuries. Our cutters take pride in carefully studying each piece of rough before they choose the perfect orientation and ideal shape of the final finished stone.
Sometimes size counts.
Like diamonds and other coloured gemstones, Tanzanite is sold by its weight, or carat (1 carat = 0.2 grams). We specialize in larger stones and place only those with the best optical-aesthetic qualities in our collection. Unique gemstones for signature settings create not only a beauty to be cherished for generations, but items of true investment value for your customers.
A spectacular gemstone should be worn with a light heart.
A remarkable piece deserves to be worn with confidence. That confidence rests on responsible mining and ethical sourcing. Because we own and control the operations of our Tanzanite mining and work with local miners to source only the best pedigree of Tanzanite rough, Amodoria can guarantee the origin and processing of each Tanzanite gem that is part of our collection. Our stones can be worn with the knowledge that international safety, employee and quality standards have been upheld right up until the final facet is polished.
